SCIENCE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND

Science has offered the mankind with powerful means for solving the majority of the challenges facing people. Scientific research and technology serve as a great engine for today’s economies and deliver knowledge for all humankind. World Science Day for Peace and Development provides an opportunity for scientific organizations, scientists, governments and civil society to join together in praising Science as the motive power for “social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom”.

The World Science Day for Peace and Development is an annual event celebrated all over the world on November, 10. The major aim of this celebration is raising awareness of the benefits of science worldwide.

Our gymnasium also took part in this transnational event. In our activities we followed the goal of highlighting science’s important role in peace and development, renewing the national, as well as the international commitment to science for peace and development and emphasizing the responsible use of science for the benefit of society.

We organized classroom discussions to emphasize how science and technology affect our daily lives. Also we asked the students to show their vision on how science influences their lives.

We thank all the participants!

And our congratulations to Darya Tsehanskaya whose work was the best.

DUAL CITIZENSHIP: MY NATIVE LAND AND MY PLANET

This time the extra-curricular activities in Gymnasium 2 of Orsha were tightly connected with such an important issue as global citizenship. First, we organized several round-table discussions on the theme of “Dual citizenship: my native land and my planet” which highlighted such topics as environmental problems, sources of renewable energy, etc. We aimed our activities at shaping value-based and sustainable inner principles of responsible global citizens in our students. We spoke to them about the emerging world community that must become our global home. But our major goal was to foster the sense of belonging to a world community in our students, to nurture the realization of personal involvement and responsibility for the developing world. We strived to deprive our students of indifference that, unfortunately, can be so frequently found in the hearts of the contemporary youth representatives, we were also guided by the idea of awakening the feeling of solidarity with the other nations, countries and ethnicities of the world.
